‘Die Maschine’ is the first song that I have ever done in German language. I actually never wanted to do a song in German because I thought that I would limit myself, if I work with German lyrics. But within the collaboration with Friedrich Liechtenstein who is a real icon in Germany, it just felt right. So the idea was to end the album with another Paradise themed song (of which there are a couple throughout), a song that has the message, that we should care a little more about our own Paradise. We were looking for lyrics that describe a little bit what we are doing to our planet, our Paradise without being too political. We tried to find a way to say this in a more ironic way and Friedrich did an amazing job with that. He basically came to my studio and just improvised, and the result was perfect. The song which contains a sample of the „Hills of Katmandu“, is really important to me as a DJ, because I played it a lot in my sets throughout the years. But now with Friedrich’s vocals on it, it’s just on another level. As much as I love for my music to be fun and bring happiness to the people, it was also really important to me to include a song that’s a bit more political, but still fun to listen to and I believe we achieved that with ‘Die Maschine…
