On the way back to the Windsor/Detroit area for this weekends @movementdetroit festival! Always exciting to go home with something new to show to all my family, friends and supporters who’ve been with me since the beginning… specially my parents 😉

This year I’ll be debuting a new show, DEX EFX X0X, which again plays with the balance of sound & sight… fusing together two of our senses to create synchronous moments that we all share and experience together.

The show is a further exploration of my original DECKS, EFFECTS & 909 project (or way of performing) where I started using effects to modify the records I was playing while also adding extra percussion with a @rolandglobal TR-909 drum machine. DEX EFX X0X continues this style (my style 😉) with a modern digital setup (+ analog @playdifferently MODEL 1 mixer) and an accompanying setup of my favorite lights that I’ve been testing @minuit_une Photons and playful use of the LED screen for some much needed transparency within the “DJ as Superstar” era 🤷🏼 … what’s a DJ without the music & producers they rely on 🧐

An important fact
- in the late 1980s and 1990s many DETROIT DJs used equipment beyond turntables… fierce EQ tricks, TR-909/808s and Reel 2 Reel tape machines were a normal of many sets and clubs (Music Institute ❤️) and so I’m just another generation taking the incredible things I heard/saw in my early days, and channeling it through my own unique lens and hoping to represent a style that DJing isn’t just plug’n’play 😅
